And The Results Are In...

Last month we launched the first ever SalesForce Search Quick Survey and the response rate was fantastic. Thank-you to everyone who took the time to complete our survey. The results will help Companies gain a better understanding of what sales professionals are looking for in their next role and improve their chances of attracting and retaining best candidates.

Please take a few minutes to review the SalesForce Search Quick Survey results:

Question #1

How important to you are the following factors when considering your next job?

Not surprisingly, the number one response was "upside potential", with almost two thirds of respondents indicating the opportunity for bonuses and commissions is very important. This shows that when it comes to sales compensation, the focus is on variable pay rather than base salary. The next most important factors identified were "job challenge" and "a good manager". The least most important factors identified were "health benefits" and "a well established company".

Question #2

How important to you are the following characteristics for your next manager?

By a significant margin, the most important managerial characteristic identified was "allows freedom to make choices". This was followed by "in-depth product knowledge" and "provides regular feedback on performance". The least desirable characteristic for a manager is one who "provides continuous direction". These results show that while sales professionals want to hear from their managers about their performance, they want the freedom to carry out their work without being micro-managed.

Question #3

How important is it to you the company provides the following resources?

The most important company provided resources identified were "ongoing sales training" and "home office capabilities", demonstrating once again that sales people want to continuously improve their skills, and want to have flexibility in how and when they perform their jobs. The least important company provided resources identified were "sales leads" -- top sales professionals expect to generate their own leads.

Thanks again from everyone at the SalesForce Search team, and look for our future surveys that will provide valuable information to companies looking to hire great sales people. Continue to check our website for future job sales opportunities and thank you again for your participation.
